Windmill on Wheel

Downwind machine just like “windmill on wheel 2”. The blades are made of metal wire mesh and clear tape. The diameter of this turbine is “4” feet. A “6” feet diametr turbine of the same design, will be used to power the generator. I am talking about a “pizza” generator based on the first prototype depicted in the video clip (Bicycle wheel generator with magic rotor).   2. I tend to built my turbines with material that can be found in any home. So far I made sure that the turbines will not cause serious injuries to myself. Usually, it is when the wind is blowing hard that you notice that something needs to be fixed. I must be able to stop the rotation without destroying the turbine.

  5. OK great!! but whats the use of it?? can you actually generate electricity out of this?? if so whats the power rating??

  6. I built a similar set of blades two weeks ago.
    This time I used the same raw material, but folded one inch along the leading edge of the gutter screen backwards from the concave side. I ended up with a skinnier and faster blade. The one important aspect of using a wire mesh is that the tape layers from the front and the back make contact through the holes of the wire mesh. The fiberglass rods form the skeleton that strengthens the blades. Two blades share the same rods for a total of 4 rods.

  8. Buy fiberglass rods from kite supply store.
    These rods are 4 ft. long but they can be longer.
    Buy gutter cover from building supply store like “home depot.”
    The screen were 3 feet long. By cutting them in 1/2 we have (18 inches plus 12inches for the wheel plus another 18 inches for a blade=48 inches total length of the rods.
    Using wire,bend and attach the rod to the gutter screen before wrapping with tape. Place blades the same distance from each other and secure rods to spokes with wire.
