For their milk, meat and wool (or hair in the case of goats).
We use sheeps wool for many reasons, clothing, fabrics, stuffing in our pillows. Some people like Lamb chops to eat as well.
Goats have a great milk that is often used in place of infant formulas or when a person is allergic to regular milk. It can be used to make cheese and ither dairy products. Some cultures use thier hides and fur for various reasons. Goat met is pretty good to eat.

By rear you mean raise? Not something else? We raise goats for their milk and meat, sheep for their wool
