Question by opjames: Why do people raise goats?
I know it sounds funny, but other than getting goat’s milk, how do farmers make money on goats?

  4. Well they keep the grounds looking good by eating the grass and you can sell goats and make a good profit. My brother raised Pygmy goats and he made $ 45 dollars a piece from them and they were only 8wks old.

  5. ahh, the old goat on the grill trick. In some southern states the old baa is considered a delicacy, usually barbecued around the 4th of july,and outdoor social gatherings. plus farmers who raise goats use them to keep the herbage in check, sort of a goat lawnmower.

  6. Goats are used for milk as well as fiber, Breeds raised for fibre are the Angora and Cashmere. Angora goats are used to produce Mohair. Cashmere goats are raised for there milk, meat and wool. There is also the Spanish goat which is bred for there meat and in Texas they also use them for brush control.

  8. People raise goats, so they can sell the skin for money and the meat is also a good source of protien.

  9. Some people just keep them as pets…everything doesn’t have to be about money.
