Why do farmers raise ducks?

Question by Ned: Why do farmers raise ducks?
I understand farmers raising chickens, cows, pigs, geese, sheep, etc. But why do they raise ducks? Nobody (except the Chinese) eat them and their eggs aren’t food either… So what are they for..?

  3. Ducks and their eggs are a food source so they are raised for the same reasons the other animals you mentioned are raised.

  4. Plenty of people eat duck, and ducks eggs. Just because it aint as popular as chicken doesn’t mean people don’t eat it! Also, ducks feathers are used for feather quilts and pillows.
