Question by Pamela: which dairy goat produces the smallest baby of these breeds, alpine, nubian or saanan?
we have 2 nubian females and we want to breed them to another dairy goat. We want to breed them to a male that produces the smallest baby. Are they all about the same or does one breed produce a bigger baby then another? THanks

  1. alpines produce small babies, but in general it depends on how big the buck(male) is. it also depends on how well you palnutrition them( or how much food you feed them the month before you breed). we have nubians, alpines, and saanan goats, and in my experience they pretty much all have the same size kids. nubians sometimes produce small babies but it depends on the doe’s age, background, and the size of the buck. usually nubians give more multiple babies in birth. but i would breed those does to a nubian buck if your wanting to register the babies. we have three nubian bucks if you would like to service your does.
