Question by Amanda B: What’s healthier: a grilled chicken sandwich or chicken tenders?
Assuming that portion sizes are the same, the chicken tenders are grilled, and the chicken sandwich doesn’t have any mayo… I am wondering like calorie and fat wise.

  1. Grilled chicken tenders that have never been fried due to the fact that there will be no bread to consume.

  3. The knee-jerk reaction is to say the grilled chicken sandwich, but it all depends on how both are cooked. If you have that grilled chicken, dose it in salt, put it on an enriched flour, white bun….then add cheese, mayo, bacon, etc then it’s not very healthy. On the surface chicken tenders sound fattening, but if you put a light layer of bread crumbs on and bake them, they are great. Or if you pan fry them in a just a coating of olive oil they are still not too bad. Either way, lay off the sodium, simple carbs (get whole wheat buns or omit the bun all together), deep frying and fattening toppings and dressings. You can actually enjoy both!

  7. Grilled chicken is better then deep fried chicken (chicken tenders)

In a sandwich it could be less healthy if the sandwich has tones of salt/mayo high calorie sauce.

To take it one step further the chicken being cooked has a factor too..

is the chicken homegrown or store bought; depending on how the chicken was raised it could be a bigger or lesser benefit to your body.

A chicken that is store bought was most likely small caged it’s entire life, was fed a low nutrient diet and had no sunlight.

A chicken that you have raised personally will have huge health benefits..

So go for the grilled chicken, free range chicken sandwich.
