What wormer should I use for my dairy goat?

Question by tobemeghan: What wormer should I use for my dairy goat?
I just got a Toggenburg that is currently fresh (milking), I am sure sure has worms as her coat is very dull and she has a big belly (even before she eats). My question is this: What type of wormer will get the job done but has a short (or no) milk withdrawal time. I am interested in natural wormers (but will give a chemical wormer) but don’t want something that I have to give weekly.
Thanks!

  1. The best thing to do is call a vet and ask for his advice. or ask the person you got the doe from. You will have to have a withdrawl time with any wormer you use. When we worm our goats we do not use the milk for 1 week after treatment. Most natural wormers (herbals) will have to be given on a weekly basis. Better to use one and get the job done. We worm our goats 2X a year in the fall and in the spring. Usually just before kidding.
