What to do about beehive in gas grill?

Question by Miki: What to do about beehive in gas grill?
Found it yesterday and the hive is inside the grill and I can see the honeycombs through the window. I live at least 30 miles out of any pest removal service range even if I pay extra so what should I do?
I don’t want to kill the bees. I just want them gone. I’m actually trying to find a bee keeper who will take the hive.

  3. See if there are any beekeepers in your area. You might be able to find out by contacting your state’s agricultural extension service. If the insects in your grill are actually honeybees, often beekeepers will come and remove them for free or for very little money because a healthy wild bee swarm is a valuable asset for them. We had a huge swarm in a hollow tree in my parents yard 30 years ago and a beekeeper came and smoked them out and removed them to his farm.

Honeybees are threatened in many areas of the country and it would be a shame to kill them if they can be saved and relocated where they can do some good as pollenators and honey makers.

  5. If they are honey bees, they are becoming more, and more scarce, and are one of the most important little creatures in the world for pollination. If you call your local Extension Office they may be able to give you the names of any local honey farms, or bee keepers in your area. They may take them off your hands or give you advice on their removal. Good Luck
