Question by : What kinds of freshwater fish don’t eat plant roots?
Trying to get an aquaponics raft system going, but without fish it’s not taking off at all. It’s tied in with 2 other tanks with fish and another grow bed, the other grow bed is doing great. Really need to get some fish in there, we already have a bunch of goldfish but I know they will terrorize roots. Can’t find a list of fish that are safe for raft systems and won’t eat roots, anywhere online. Please help!!

  2. Any carnivore. (Except cichilds that like to tear up a tank)

Bettas, some tetras, guppies (in my personal experience, guppies do not go after plant roots).

  3. I have found this information to be really helpful with my system. When I was getting my aquaponics garden started this was the only information I could find and discovered it was really good. Good luck- hope you have a successful garden like mine! http://tinyurl.com/aquaponics4u
