The kind of system you chose to use will determine which media works best. Net pots and expanded clay pellets work well with a flood and drain system. perlite works well with nft. Peatmoss is cheap and works well with the dutch pot tech. Any of those would work well with strawberries, just make sure the fruit stays out of wet media.
