The last chick in the brood, evidently. I wonder what happened to the others. It isn’t easy to raise a family with hawks and snapping turtles about.

Question by Taylor Jones: What is the best way to make a duck housing spot outside?
The place it would be living would be out of the city where there could possibly be wild animals. Me and my friend were thinking of a wooden pin up off of the ground with a wire front with a door and a place for it to sleep. Would that work? We only have one duck, so we don’t need a huge duck home. . .

  1. What I’ve seen at some zoos are little raised nest box/huts set out in the pond with a ramp leading from the water to the box. I bet he’d like that!

You could make it by making a large bird house type box with a door large enough for him, and attaching it to a post… then you could take a plastic bucket and set it in concrete and put that out in your pond… don’t forget the ramp!

(I’m assuming you have a pond, sorry if you don’t)
