Question by B C: What is the best organic powdered goat’s milk out there for making soaps?
Wanting to making organic soaps for craft fair. Is powdered goat’s milk just as good as using goat’s milk.

  1. I raise goats, and have made goat milk soaps before.

    I know of no powdered milk that is not non-fat. You need those fats in the milk for proper soap production.

    Indeed the fresh goat milk from my Saanen produces poor quality soap, since she produces milk with lower milk fats.

    I’m afraid you really need fresh goat milk. LaManchas produce a nice ratio of fats in their milk, for making soap.

    By the way, you can buy bulk goat milk soap from Ebay, for CHEAP. One route you might think about is simply buying the bulk, premade goat milk soap, melting it down, and adding all the scents, and what-not that you would like to add. The bulk goat milk soap on Ebay is just plain, zero scent, or color added.

  2. dunno, interesting question tho.
    Wanted to say 1 thing tho, did you know that the process of making soap is called “saponification”?
