Cost-effective pasture management practices in Kyrgyzstan are helping to reduce negative impacts of livestock grazing on land and improve rural livelihoods.
The project is also working on attracting farmers to distant pastures by installing green technologies, including six mini hydropower stations and 18 solar energy stations. This equipment helps to improve the livelihoods of families and shepherds working in distant pastures.

Question by shella: What is so good about Solar power?
how is solar power efficient to homes and families and what is so great about it?
thanks!

In theory it is free emission free. But that is theory. Limited to few hours of daily production weather permitting, regional limitations. Nice for watches and calculators

from what i’ve heard THE GOOD- it lowers your electricity bill and is environmentally friendly
THE BAD- it costs a lot of money, time, and energy to set up.

+Can produce a significant amount of power without using up any new land (you can put it on roofs etc).
+Reduces fuel consumption and therefore the amount you have to import from foreign countries.
+Releases very little in the way of CO2 and air pollution (there’s a chunk in manufacturing, but per unit of electricity you produce it’s something like 95%+ lower than coal)
+Fuel is free, so you’re protected against price volatility
+Silent and unobtrusive in operation, requires very little maintenance. (wind turbines can be noisy, wood fired stuff requires effort and storage for wood)
+in countries like the US, peak electricity demand is during the hot days for A/C and the likes, when solar produces the most power. It tends to produce the most power when peak electricity prices are on.
-expensive (prices are coming down, but we’re still a while away from it being affordable for most)
-depends on sunshine for power produced, doesn’t produce at night.

It will never run out, it’s clean, it can become very cheap, we don’t have to depend on other countries that don’t like us.

Solar power is awesome because it will never go away! The sun will always continue to shine, so we will never run out of the energy that it can supply us.
