Question by Sir Hoochalot: What foods with high levels of calcium do you give your dogs and how much?
Goat’s milk? Cheese? Yoghurt? Ice cream?

Any non-dairy foods?

How often? Daily? Weekly? As a very special treat?
My dog gets a spoonful of yoghurt when he’s gassy, 200mls of goat’s milk a couple of times a week and ice cream as a very special treat.

I know not to go overboard.

  2. My dog gets enough calcium from his food.

I rotate between a high quality kibble, and raw.

He is lactose intolerant and cannot have dairy.. not unless I want a mess all over my floor.

  3. I feed my dogs raw chicken such as chicken necks / wings / and carcasses, they raw bones are full of all types of great vitamins, minerals and especially calcium.

  4. My dogs (and cats) get a bony meal every second or third night. This may be a chicken quarter, turkey drumstick, pork hock, chicken frame stuffed with heart or roo mince ……

To me a meaty bone is a better and more utilised source of calcium than dairy for my animals.
