Question by quickstrike06: what do you need to start a bee farm?
I saw an interesting TV program about honey (Good Eats with Alton Brown, Food Network), and I was wondering what one would need, or have to do, to raise bees and produce honey products.
Give your answer to this question below!
Training
Bees
Coups
Large area of land to keep them

It is very difficult for a small bee keeper to make a living. But if you have the money to get started, you will find that what you need most is a fantastic marketing program. All the equipment, land, and experience in the world ain’t no good if you can’t sell your product.
Most successful bee keepers started small or as a hobby. Get one hive, read a good bee keeping book and find out if you like it.

Visit an Apiary – a place where bee-hives are kept and speak to the beekeeper. They appear to be weird people but are quite friendly. They will give you the pro’s and con’s which should help to make up your mind. Besides, one might give you an old hive including a small swarm of bees to look after to see how you get on. It is unlikely that you could compete with the honey coming in from various sources at such a low price. Think amateur and enjoy it.
