Feeding a dead mouse to a cornsnake. (apparently he’s too chicken for live food?)
Question by Amber: What do i do when my chicken has so many mites that it can not walk or fly?
I was feeding my 2 Chickens and one of them would not walk up to me or the food. So, I carefully picked her up and gently dropped her to see if she would fly like normal, and she just didn’t move. She basically did a nose dive into the dirt. I picked her up again to examine her and I saw a bunch of mites all over her head. And she has 2 perfectly good legs and wings. What should I do?
The “mites” that I said are black.

I think your chicken has lice. The safest way to treat is with a product called Diatomaceous Earth (DE). Most treatments use some kind of insecticide powder (poison). But DE is natural and safe. It is also good for the chickens helping make their bones and egg shells stronger. Just sprinkle or dust the chicken and also put a quantity in the pen or coupe where the chickens can dust themselves.
