Question by : What can we do about one of our neighbors raising ducks and geese in their garage?
This has been going on for over a year we live in a subdivision with indentures that state you can not raise fowl or swine in the neighborhood, the new neighbors raised geese, ducks , and some other type of birds in thier garage and we also have 2 acre pond we share with them and another neighbor, the one that has all the fowl feeds the candian geese as well then the candians don’t leave there is duck and geese poop everywhere in our lawn and the street hard when your talking a walk. I have small grandkids and one is special needs and we are afraid that the kids will get into the fowl poop and put it in their mouth. The fowl they have raised has gotten way out of hand between them and the candian there could be 40 to 50 birds out there. We have had words back and forth with the neighbors but they don’t care, we contacted the subdvision committee but they say that the subdivision don’t really enforce the rules…what can we do to about this situation if you have any ideas please let us know.

  1. Seriously? You should tell them to go duck themselves.

  4. This is likely illegal in your city/town. Call authorities as most places must have special zoning to raise such animals..and there are limits to how many they can have.

  5. Call the humane society and do not worry, it can be done without them knowing who you are.

  6. Do you have a copy of your rules stated for your residence that said for example that you couldn’t have fowl or swine? Call the police and make a report saying it is illegal, and you have proof that it is not only illegal, you have proof theyre doing it and that it is effecting your private property, and poses a threat to your special needs grandchild, the police should enforce it more.

  7. They are Canada Geese, not Canadian.

Even if he eats the poop it will not hurt him.

Call the humane society. Call the Health Department – unsanitary conditions.
Ask the subdivision committee who DOES enforce the rules.

You bought your home there with the understanding the rules are to be followed. This stinks.

  8. You must contact your local council, health department, then local Wildlife Officer or Sheriff’s department. as to the cities rules governing keeping of Livestock on private or non owner property such as local council.

They will give you all the revalent information and also they will do some-thing about it if it is not in the local ordnance.

It could possibly be a health hazard which they would deal with right away.
