Question by FrOgGeR: What can I cover my dog’s ears with when I take him out in the rain?
I have just gotten my Doberman’s ears cropped, and it rains here a lot! I know I should cover them so that they stay dry when I take him out to do his business. What should I use that won’t drive him even more crazy…and is easy to put on and take off…but won’t get easily shaken off by him?

  1. I had a husky who never had problems when in the rain, just dry the ears out.

  3. Use a zip lock bag and use the same tape that you will use for the postings, to tape a sort of rain bonnet over the ears. Just attach the tape to one side of the bag, put it under his neck, and attach the tape to the other side of the bag. You are right…..do NOT get the ears wet!

@jb…..it’s the outside cropped edge of the ear where the stitches are, that isn’t suppose to get wet!

  4. I would check out the large size of foam Toe sleeves, not too sure what they call them, but they can be found in WALMART in the feet area. They guard the toes & look like foam large fingers! I think thee would slip snug on your dogs eras w/out too much trouble & work well. This is what I would do. Good Luck!

  5. I don’t have a dog, but what I would try is putting a hat on him and tying it gently with a rope, don’t choke him! Maybe a blanket would work or something.. Idk but good luck!

  6. I would put petroleum jelly or whatever ointment he is supposed to have (if any) on the cut edges. That would keep the water off the wound and he would not be able to shake it off. If you want, you could wipe it off once inside.
