There are probably thousands of answers to this question, but here’s two really big problems we’ll have to deal with. We need to find a sustainable alternate fuel. It takes a lot of gasoline to grow large amounts of food.
We also need to control our population. If the Human populations continues to grow at its current rate (which is pretty low now) it would be physically impossible to grow enough food for the human population in about 500 years.
If we can terraform other planets than we should be fine, but I don’t have high hopes for that.
There are also plans to make farms in skyscrapers. Having farms in skyscrapers just might be the future of agriculture.
