Question by Veen: What are some good resources about susainable agriculture?
I am moving from Iowa and am planning on attending Santa Rosa C.C. next fall while majoring in Sustainable organic Ag. I am wondering what are some good resources in the field and if anyone has heard good things of this schools program?

  2. Looked at the faculty and the courses, it looks like it could be better titled organic fruit and vegetable production in Santa Rosa, CA. I’m not sure if it’s going to teach you things that can be transferred elsewhere. For instance a course in how to evaluate olive oil wouldn’t do you much good in Iowa.

I really couldn’t figure out from the faculty list who would teach the courses, there really doesn’t seem to be any agriculture faculty or life science faculty really qualified, looks like it would be mostly the one horticulture teacher.

Are you going there because you’ve heard good things or because it’s in California?

  3. I would suggest you also look into the distance courses from Oregon State and the tri-state alliance (Or, Id and Wa ag schools) they have some excellent classes and material on organic and sustainable systems.
