We have tried to raise turkeys and they seem to always break a toe or leg, they are clumsy. Any suggestions??

  2. We have raised poultry for years, generally if they are breaking toes they are getting them caught in something and pulling to the point of breakage. If they are roosting in a spot that is to high and when they fly down at dawn the impact can break their legs, they can be retrained to roost somewhere else if this is the problem. Good luck.

  3. i have found turkeys to be the most idiot birds… this must be why dumb people are called “turkeys”. i don’t know why yours are breaking legs — could be they need more calcium in their diet perhaps. mine never broke their legs. maybe something is attacking them??????

    however, mine would mate but still have infertile eggs, they would sit out in the pouring rain & when they would try to fly they would smash into things. also, i had one male turkey who would attack anyone who was carrying something in his arms. who knows why — we named him merry christmas & he lived up to his name…
