Hi, I’m NW, I live in Pittsburgh PA.
I have a few questions on Urban Farming!
I have never done Urban Farming but find the idea intriguing
I am thinking about making a chicken coup in my backyard
It would be fun to have eggs and cool pets.
BUT i have a few questions!
PLEASE include websites on Urban Farming and How-To chicken coups
QUESTIONS
#1 Will the chickens make noise? like early in the morning (CooCaCooo?) Lol
#2 Will Chickens eat my moms flowers?
#3 Will i have to bring them in for winter?
#4 How big will the coup be?
#5 How to build the coup?
#6 Female to Male ratios?
#5 PLEASE feel free to add any info! I have never done this and find it cool!
Thank You
I need a list of supplies!!

  2. 1) only if you have roosters 9and a loud rooster will get the city out to your Farmette and close it down)
    2) yes they will if allowed to roam loose. they will eat about any plant and they love to dirt bathe and will not just eat the flowers but also dig them up. Chickens and crops/flowers do not mix and must be kept separated at all times.
    3) No
    4) Depends on how many chickens. I believe it is 4 square feet per bird
    5) Lots of plans on the web. Stay away from chicken wire as it is too weak to keep predators out
6)You do not need males for any reason. they are needed to produce eggs, they are loud and they fight. if you really think you need a rooster than 1 roo for every 25 hens.

Here are some of my chicken videos
