turkey sandwich left out, safe to eat?

Question by S.Z.: turkey sandwich left out, safe to eat?
I got a cold turkey sandwich on my 5 hour flight and then had it for a few hours extra on the drive home. It consists of turkey, cheese and bread. I’d hate to waste it, it looks and smells fine. If I bake it should it be okay?
I had it shoved in my lunch box that had a cool pack. It was still slightly cool when I got off the plane, but the ice pack was fully melted. It’s on a nice fluffy croissant, I love those things. I might just pull off the meat and cheese and toast the bread.

  3. 99 times out of 100 it will be safe – the stuff they put in commercial sandwiches is sterilised anyway

  4. Throw it away. It’s a lousy sandwich.

  5. Raise the internal temp to 160 degrees F, should be okay but crunchy

I have never had plane food that was worth the bother.

  7. no, it is probably teeming with bacteria…any food left between 40-140 degrees will breed ALOT of bacteria…this is the food “danger zone”
