Is it an old bath tub or is it a worm farm? Well its both an old bath tub and a worm farm. The worm farm is full of red compost worms, see up a close up of these worms on my hand. Wriggly and squiggly worms. The plug hole at the end of the bath is the drain for the worm farm. The bath slopes slightly to the plug hole end. Any liquid that is created in the worm farm is able to drain from the worm farm via this plug hole. The half plastic pipe runs from under the plug hole to an empty ice cream container at the other end. Any liquid that accumulates in the ice container is poured on to the garden.
OMGosh, I just made a video about what to do with my old Japanese Soaking tub that I never used. Someone suggested a worm farm and I saw your video. But mine is very deep and I wonder if it is too big?

@aussiegirlonamission Yes, I used a small piece of flyscreen mesh.

How did you stop worms going down the plug hole? did you cover with mesh or something? 🙂

@crazyaboutcompost No, there are no holes drilled into the tub. The bath tub drains only from the drain hole. The bath slopes slightly to this drain hole. The worms did not seem to have any trouble acclimatising to this bath tub. After adding the worms to the bath tub, they quickly multiplied to fill the available space and eat the kitchen scraps provided.

do you have holes drilled in the side of the tub? How long did it take them to acclimate?
