The Truth About Dairy Cows

LYRICS: I used to think if I didn’t eat meat that I was doing my part I couldn’t give up cheese and dairy and I didn’t see why I should start After all cows always give milk to be enjoyed by me and you I never stopped to question whether or not that’s true Dairy cows are kept pregnant just about their entire lives artificially inseminated Mooing, lonely wives giving birth every year, baby calves just taken away And that’s how you get your cheese each and every day cows cows they’re just mothers without their children cows cows they are crying out to find them and it all happens over and over again the dairy cows children are separated out females share their mama’s fate they too will be dairy cows pumped full of hormones starting at the age of 1 they normally live to 25 but 5 years of this and they’re done cows cows they’re just mothers without their children cows cows they are crying out to find them and it all happens over and over again but what about her sons they got no milk to give so in the eyes of this system they got no right to live They are just a thing left over Wasted life into a meal When they end up on a dinner plate ‘Cause someone ordered veal Original Videos: youtu.be www.youtube.com www.youtube.com Sources and link: www.peta.org 3) Department of Animal Science, “Dairy Cattle Teaching & Research Center,” Michigan State University, 14 Apr. 2009. 4) T. 4. Sad song but very true, I am adopting the vegan lifestyle but am experiencing excessive difficulty depleting my cravings for cheese. It’s like a drug for me and obviously for a lot of people too, what’s the best substitute for cheese? Thank you spreading awareness on the subject, therockcookiebottom

  5. @brylorbs69 So there’s no stress what so ever when a cow and her young are seperated within 24hrs of birth? Or living in their own filth? Or having some big machine do the pumping when it should be that of a gentle calves mouth? There’s no such thing as a happy cow on a dairy farm. They give lots of milk because of the inbreeding and extra hormones. Not because they are happy. I too have been on dairy farms and it’s not ‘happy’ at all. Also, farmers do not care. Stealing is not caring.

  12. Your point is well taken but the argument is weakened by including the final footage. That horrible person is nothing more than an evil, ignorant sadist and in no way represents the dairy industry. When I lived in Vermont I knew many dairy farmers and they cared greatly for their herd. Not only do they represent an enormous investment, but a cow who is stressed will not let her milk down and will produce poorly. Happy cows make lots of milk so farmers keep their milkers happy and stress free.

  14. I find it odd when people down-play animal suffering. There are many problems that need attention, at least they are trying to raise some awareness. A very large proportion of songs written don’t address any contemporary issues – I have a feeling that if this song were about unicorns on chocolate rainbows, no-one would have a problem that they are not raising awareness for starving children in Africa.

  15. @kellanpan That’s what I said when Jonathan was editing this video together. I agree about that, we did say that there was disturbing material, but that’s not really saying it all…

  16. @Drakomis What issues am I singing about? I’m afraid you may have me confused with another YouTube Channel. I am a Vegan Drag Queen with a cooking show on YouTube (who occasionally posts drag queen performance videos that have nothing to do with veganism.)

And while they might not be my videos/songs you’re commenting on here, the issues these vegans are raising are far from pointless. Animal agriculture is a top contributor to many fatal health problems, climate change, and world hunger.

  20. @HoneyLaBronx So that’s my issue, in three comment posts. Sorry for the length. Like I said, I’m not here to be problem. I’m here pointing out what I think is a pointless cause considering there are already a number of movements solving your issue here. I believe that, with your talents, you could be making a bigger difference doing it another way. That’s all I mean. Sure, talk about cows and whatnot, but include it with something else. Like famine, like charity, something good.

  21. @HoneyLaBronx Furthermore, in continuation, I understand where you’re coming from. However you’re a very popular youtube channel. If you were not, I would not have even bothered to comment. Instead of singing songs about actual problems in the world, you choose to sing songs about irrelevant and pointless issues. I’m not saying they’re bad, as a matter of fact your song writing and singing is catchy. I just believe you could be doing a helluva lot more singing about actual issues.

  22. @HoneyLaBronx Why thanks, I’m damn surprised you’re not some crazy cook looking to get attention. Since you actually did your school work, I can deal with you.

I’ll say this simply. I’m a Pagan, I love nature, I respect it, I also respect the natural order, how things are. I respect peoples choices. What I do not respect is hippy talk. I know, it seems odd, but you seem to love what you do and I understand that. I’m not here to troll, I’m just pointing out it sounds a bit off.

  24. The brutal physical treatment of dairy cows and their calves is a great reason to give up dairy, but I cannot understand who the ‘having their babies taken away makes them sad’ argument could possibly be aimed at. It is ridiculous and trivial compared to everything else these poor animals go through.
