The Strawberry Store Builds a Cold Frame and Uses Compost for Heating (Part 1)

This 12′ x 16′ cold frame was recently built out of mostly repurposed and recylced materials. We just started moving plants in and are starting to construct a composting/vermicomposting system. This video is the first in a series about our efforts to heat the cold frame with compost and use the preconditioned compost for vermicomposting. The cold frame will be used to grow vegetables for our family and to start strawberry seeds for spring crops.

  1. It is when one is deathly afraid of snakes. The wire is for other rodents as well. Mice and moles love to get into worm bins. A worm bin to them is a feast.

  2. Great idea! Snakes? Is that a real concern?
