  1. If roosters crowing makes you chuckle you’ve gotta watch this film “A Town Called Panic” from Belgium – worth the time spent.

  6. We have a blue Silkie and buff Silkie (pullets) We’re looking forward to those cute, tiny eggs! Our silkies are very sweet and lovable. Looks like Terry is, too. Enjoy your chickens and thanks for the video.

  9. I remember when we discovered we had a rooster, after a year of no crowing. I started letting them free range in the yard & he found his voice. I panicked because I live in an urban area with hateful neighbors. Luckily a coworker took him the next day.

  10. Hazel is so sweet and broody. My chicken Pilgrim is currently broody and watches the other chickens as they lay their eggs them hurries them away. Having chickens in Australia is great because you get eggs all year round pretty much.

  11. almost every New Jersey Agway sells chicks in the spring… you can just give them a call. I know the one in New Egypt, Burlington County, has a large selection.

  13. Coconut was killed by a raccoon in July. Soon after, we re-homed our other rooster to a farm upstate. I got all of my chickens (with exception of the Silkies) from our local Agway store. The Silkies are from a local 4H club.

  21. A Silkie is a bantam (or small) breed of chicken, so they lay smaller eggs.

  24. That’s so funny! I’m about 10 weeks and not loving eggs anymore, either!! It’s not necessarily an aversion, but they don’t taste the same at all 🙁 Now I have a huge drawer full in my fridge (because God knows, no one else cooks around here… haha. Hazel isn’t really angry as much as she just likes to complain… I think we all know women like that 🙂
