  3. Thanks for your query. The system you describe generally heats domestic hot water directly (you tend to see it in warmer countries like Greece). In the UK it’s not possible to do this due to our climate – we have to add antifreeze (glycol) to our solar systems to prevent panels from freezing in winter, and for obvious reasons you can’t add antifreeze to potable water.   4. Why not have a cylinder above the panels and it will heat via the therm-syphon method which aleviates the expense, unreliability an having to drawa power from the grid of pumps etc.?
