I guess I have to wonder what will happen to me since I treat snakes more roughly than that sometimes – to get them off the property so the dog doesn’t kill them.
not a triangle head – the triangle head is definitely a triangle (and I’m told it’s always a triangle – A hog snake made me hesitate once because he changed his head to a triangle (I had to look it up after) – and in my hesitation -the dog swooped in and showed him no mercy.
That snake was starving. See its backbone and ribs through the skin?
Still, you shouldn’t treat creatures like the way you did with this pole. His big brother might be waiting in your boot one day! Karma occurs 9 times out of 10 you know.

“dude” most people are afraid of snakes, around here they are also called diamond backs and the oak snakes have a close enough pattern to be confused with one.but then again I am like most people, a good snake is a dead snake
ducksmasher, you may be a marsh expert but NO snake expert, it is a grey ratsnake not a python by any means… I ran a reptile rescue for years

Since you’re no expert in handling snakes, it is risky trying to get the snake out as it could jump and bite you in the face.

Best conclusion is a Corn snake/rat snake hybrid. No matter what it isn’t poisonous.

Mambas are NOT native to America PTL. They’re common throughout Africa & are highly venomous. One bite is extremely fatal.

Wish that were yellow jackets or wasps the snake took on. I’ll be rooting for the snake if that ever happens. I hate yellowjackets & wasps both.
