Silkies are adorable! I dream of having several in my backyard one day. 🙂 Allen, with the news of a new and aggressive avian flu in China and Taiwan, do you think it will eventually threaten American chicken breeds? 🙁

I have had chickens for 15 years and have Silkies arriving in 2 weeks. Can’t wait. They are so adorable!

i have video evidence of a white silkie going at it with a young game rooster twice three times his size and holding his own ….later he tricked the game rooster to fight him thru a fence …..game rooster lost

Your coop looks very clean. Do you attract mice as well? Is it best to keep Ferrell healthy cats around outside the coop to avoid those problems? Or will that stress the birds out more?

I’d say immediately! They’ll need space to get around in the sunlight, but make sure they have protection from harsh sun and vermin.

At what age should I move my chicks outside? I have them right now in a brooder. They are fully feathered in my mud room. THey are about 4 weeks old
