  1. I don’t think it is too common although my next door neighbor’s did raise chickens and we live in an urban area. They even had roosters and the chickens had chicks and there were about twenty little chicks running around next door.
    These are the only people that I have ever seen own chickens in a suburb though.

  2. Yes, I live in Chicago and I have pet four chickens. It is legal to have hens here but not roosters. My hens were rescued from a cruel factory farm in Wisconsin. Another Chicago law is you cannot slaughter your birds… which obviously I would never do. I really enjoy the companionship of my chickens =]
    They’re better than dogs in my opinion.

    Also I have three friends who live in SEPARATE houses in Chicago who also have pet rescued hens! =]
