Question by C J: Running AC appliances on external back up batter power?
I need to run a small aquarium water heater on a battery system in case there is a power outage. How can I do this? I live in a small city apartment so I need something that doesnt run on an oil generator but I can use solar. Any ideas on how to do this? or a product?

  1. go to a computer store or home depot or one of those kind of stores and ask for a ups universal power supply.

  2. As undertaker says – use a UPS (uninterruptible power supply). I have a friend that is doing exactly that so his salt water setup will not shut down in case of a power outage. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uninterruptible_power_supply
