Question by : remove ants from worm farm?
I have a worm farm thats infested with ant. I have tried placing ant kill around the legs and also adding garden lime to the soil. No luck in getting rid of them – please help.
What do you think? Answer below!
I’ve had good luck with Amdro ant bait. We have serious fire ant trouble in the Southeast and it handles them well.
Do you know the ants are only entering from the ground? They may have a colony in the worm bed itself. I would sprinkle Amdro around the legs and in the actual worm bed and wait a few days for the results. Mind you ant bait is not an instant killer, they bring it into the nest as food and distribute it amongst the colony and to the queen. The way they excitedly pick it up and haul it back into the bed, you almost feel bad for them.
Of course without the label in front of me, I have no idea if the worms are affected by Amdro if you use it in their dirt.
You can find Amdro in Lowes and other fine establishments.

Put the legs in containers and fill them with water. The ants won’t go in the water to get to the worms.

Get new dirt, Move ant farm, Start over..It is very likely you won’t be able to salvage the worms..
