  2. Coco peat has too high a Ph for growing potatoes. You want about a 6.5 high nutrient soil for best results with potatoes.

  3. I am trying it slightly different this time.. Planting them in black bags but burying 1/3 of the bag into a bed to see how access to extra water & soil does.. Used a fair bit of coconut coir to lighten up the mix a bit this time as well… They should be ready in about 4 weeks from now & shall do a clip for the harvesting…
    Have a good one..

  4. Thanks for posting this, so many post how they started but don’t show if the failed or was successful. I did mine in a 55 gallon barrel and in 5 gallon buckets. Did okay but not as well as I hoped for. Seemed lik all the potatoes stayed to the bottom and didn’t grow up higher as I mounded the soil. My soil mixture was light and airy as it was 1/3 compost/ 1/3 peat moss and 1/3 vermiculite. (Square Foot Gardening mixture)

  17. Bummer. I like your honesty in that not all attempts are major triumphs. I don’t grow potato just the sweet potato as I follow the Paleo Diet. My garden is set up Paleo too. I just bought 12 buckets to start rain gutter gardening so your video was an eye opener. Be prepared to learn through failures but rejoyce over big chicken dinner bugs.

  18. WOW! That is what happened to me last year. I did better this year so far with the potato grow bags. Gonna try bales of wheat straw next go around and compare that with the grow bags. Maybe next go around will be better for ya! Chooks will enjoy those fat grubs though!

  22. Most of the bug grubs only eat decomposing matter I have been told but better to be safe than sorry I think… There is more than enough lawn for them to munch on me thinks..
