Steve’s Stories of the Great Depression – How to Process and Pickle Vegetables, known as Giardiniera, which in Italian means “from the garden” We spent the day with Steve and he reflected on his memories of growing up during the 1930s. Modern day preppers can learn many things from the survivors of the Great Depression. Canning is becoming popular again during these hard economic times. We hope you enjoy this video and a Special ‘Thanks’ to Steve….. FreedomMeister. www.Survivalist-Supplies.com

Very Good! This is information for the real world, from one who lived it. Thank you for making the time to show us. I’ve only just made my -first- batch of REAL home canned sauerkraut, and plan to move-on to all of our garden produce – where possible. My thought is that if we live like this NOW, then we’ll eat, better, high quality food, be thrifty (there’s a good, old word…) and be more prepared as the politicians drive our nation into the ground – again.

How long will a jar of mixed vegetables last? How should they be stored? At room temperature?

Thank you so much ! I am adding this to a site where we are talking about surviving our own hard times. A truly wonderful video, Steve. I hope someday someone will cherish my knitting like you cherish your hat!
My parents married and had children during the 1930s – very strong, brave people.
