Question by Daisyhill: Pet chickens, anyone ever kept them in a suburban garden?
My partner wants to get two hens for my 3 year old…I think it’s for him really!

Has anyone ever kept just a couple in a normal garden and how did they do?

  3. I’ve heard of people keeping them in the suburbs, back in the depression. (they were for dinner not pets) But you should check with your town, many of them have ordinances against keeping poultry.

  4. Yes, in a redesigned doghouse and chicken wire fences. But check your local laws first and find a feed store.

  5. Yes we have you just need some where safe for them to at night away from foxes eg chicken house or a shed, bear in mind they do like to eat everything including your plants! but they do make loving pets and you get loads of eggs! they love being in the garden and ours is not that big.
