TFS. After watching this video I canned some all beef Oscar Meyer wieners. I did add hot (not boiling) water to the head space in quart jars. I put 10 wieners in each jar. My area calls for 10# pressure and did the full 90 minutes. This past weekend I opened a jar to make hot-dogs. OMG~~they tasted like grilled wieners. Have you tried to pressure can pre-packaged frozen fish filets? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
Those hot dogs should last quite a while longer than 1 year. The hot dogs/Polish sausage contain nitrates (preservative) from the factory processing, after pressure canning the hot dogs have been safely double cooked. I have to give this a try. thanks for the video…
I canned hot dogs also, they were all beef and the first time out really cooked to mush. So I tried again to can hot dogs and I cut the canning time in half. instead of 90 minutes I canned the hot dogs for 45 minutes was a lot better . Thinking about taking less time next time ( I mean they are already cooked so why cook them more?)
He probally canned the dogs to long OR and I am guilty of this, canned them on to high of a heat making his jingler jingle to fast LOL. Just a educated guess
Mr. Ironhead I know you are a super nice guy. I loved your “Silent Night” video and on top of that, you shared your canned hot dogs with that puppy. My kind of guy, thanks for sharing! God Bless Brother!
You got that manly of all grills just waiting for a steak behind you and your loving the hotdogs. lol good stuff man. Keep them coming always enjoy your vids.
I remember watching the video of you canning them. I can’t believe it has already been a year. I didn’t have high hopes for this one when you did it, but I will have to give it a try now. Thanks man.

If I’m not mistaken, didn’t you say they tasted grilled, when you tested them after pressure cooking them? Thry still look really good too.

Ie a question: since hotdogs are precooked shouldn’t they be packed in some sort of liquid?
