. do you think if you precook the bacon slightly it would come out better, I mean more like fried bacon rather than boiled. looks like the canned bacon is probably fried before hand.
First thanks so much for all your hard work and sharing your videos with us. I had a comment about the bacon cuz as a countryboy bout the only thing better than bacon is air. If you partially pre-cook the bacon on a rack in the oven, just until browned and still soft, it cans identical to the Yoders canned bacon because it’s more compact and less fat/grease in the jar. That way it’s perfect for BLT’s, bacon cheeseburgers, etc. Keep those videos coming 😉

Good advice but make sure the food reaches at least 121C for at least 3 minutes to destroy any spores. Simple boiling will kill the bacteria and denature the botulin toxin but infants and those with compromised immune/digestive systems can get growth within the intestines which then produces the toxin which can kill. I know this is off track but also nobody under a year old should eat honey as this can lead to infant botulism as a lot of honey (2 to 7%) contains c.botulinum spores.
Yoders looks like it was partly pre cooked which would explain why it had less fat and looks more like beacon. Have you tried pre cooking just a bit before you canned?
I remember watching my grandmother can foods, and silently laughing at her because I knew we had a large freezer and electricity. After a recent tornado and a week of being without electricity I’m no longer laughing.
ALWAYS when canning remove your screw top rings after they have been processed and cooled. This is a tested and proven fact. This way you will always know of your jars sealed safely
I have never seen Powder eggs or heard of canning bacon that’s pretty neat. Where do you live must be where there is not a lot of big stores.. luv your video. :”)
