Question by Stacy S: neighbors chickens keep coming into my backyard?
I live in town, in the village i live in and surrounding area’s we are allowed to keep up to 4 chickens. I live in a duplex and my neighbors have chickens which does not bother me but the chickens keep on coming into my backyard and i’m afraid my saint bernard/springer spaniel will kill them if he can get a hold of them. So how can we keep them out of our backyard?
there is a fence a 6ft fence

  3. 1. fence.
    2. automatic motion sensor water sprinkler
    3. warn your neighbour of what the dog may do.
    4. let the dog do what he has to do. A lesson to the neighbour.
    5. optional: make yourself chicken sandwiches, soup or whatever, and tell your neighbour your dog did it.

  4. Have a fence, a wire one is probably best so the chickens can’t get through gaps. You say you have a fence, try see where the chickens are getting through and seal it.

Also, have a word with the owner, ask them to try and keep their chickens away from it. Warn them the risks of letting their chickens in.

  5. Talk to the neighbour politely and just warn them of the danger – they might be able to do something. Also check they have their WING clipped (not WINGS as they can still fly), this might be how they are getting over the fence!

    Hope I’ve helped x

  6. put up some chicken wire, maybe becuase the chickens shouldnt be able to fit through. I would recommend either calling them or writing a letter to them saying you were concerned that your dog would hurt the chickens and you would like to have your neighbors watch the chickens more carefully. Also you could make sure there isnt any chickens when your dog goes out. Good luck and best wishes 🙂
