in my neighborhood there was a turkey leading about 20 ducks lol. i have a video about it
And the tom can be a little weird with airplanes, motorcycles he gobbles without taking a breath – otherwise for him it’s unusual sounds that set him off. I don’t mind it.
My Hen -she’s my baby and my Tom is an EXCELLENT pet. Just socialize them a lot. I hand raised them both, and talk to and hug them both daily and they are extremely good pets. I have ducks and chickens, too.
How good are turkeys as pets?, i have a polish cock whom watches over 14 hens (tetra tints, speckled sussex, buff orpington, wyindots, golden comets, etc.) And i also have 1 gander and 2 female geese,nd 13 ducks (3 drakes and hens) i am trying to convince my mom to get a few females and a tom do you have any advice or any things to say are they loud?
I got a adult male turky who almost never makes that sound only dose it if a hawk comes or when parots sqork at him he also thinks his a chicken and flattens my hens 🙁

Seriously??? Our turkeys live all winter, in freezing cold weather, outside. They sleep on top of the chicken house, not in it, by choice.

-Actually that is not true. Chickens and turkeys can live quite well together providing that there is no history of Blackhead Disease on your property. You can check with your local extension agent to see if there is any histiry of the disease in your area. We have had them on our farm for more than seven years disproving your comment. There ya go…

One should never keep turkeys and chickens (or any other kind of fowl) together. It can cause blackhead, a disease that is fatal to turkeys.
