A bunch of us went out to St. Johns to visit Eric’s (and Ben’s) chicks. This was their second time outside and they were having a grand old time. More Moxie.

Is this just an old wife’s tale? My friend says her Uncle grew up on a chicken farm. He said that if you wake up, don’t brush your teeth, then give food that you had in your mouth to a chicken & they eat it, they will die. Supposedly because they cannot tolerate all of those human germs.
Sounded like an urban legend to me ….

it is not true. As long as you aren’t feeding them whatever you were going to eat for breakfast. You can’t just go hand them a bacon strip you had in your mouth.
If you for some reason put some chicken feed in your mouth and then feed it to a chicken it will not die.

If you wake up, put food in your mouth, then give the food to a chicken and then make soup out of the chicken, well…
as to the germs. Chickens are pretty robust animals. They eat a lot a things that are on the ground and exposed to a wide variety of bacteria.
