As feed prices drive up the cost of keeping cows, farmers like Sally and Warren Coad say they’ve found a cost-efficient way of raising cattle — raise miniature cattle. Plus, they say, smaller breeds lend themselves to young cow handlers. (Aug. 12)

@fletchneck actually yes! i have herd of about 30 dexters that are grass fed and pure bred and there meat is of better quality than the lager meat cows due to the fact there is less fat in ther meat and like the video says the meat yelild quanity is higher

Wow, there’s alot of angry comments on here. Beef doesn’t just magically appear in the store already cut and shrink wrapped. I think it’s great that these cows get pasture and kids to love on them. Much better than being crammed into a feedlot and never shown any affection.

I like the video and you gave me more to think now cause i am thinking of start a small hobby farm may be i take your word and start with this breed they take less space and i can use more on one acre thank you and i wish to be came friends cause if i start with my hobby farm i would like more education from you thank you .and good luck God bless

Love it! Didn’t know mini cows existed until my husband told me about them. Love he cows and the kids. BTW did anyone notice the picture of the full size “Cow” was a steer? However, I’d rather just skip over the part about their being a more cost effective way to produce “Beef”.
