  2. Larry, buddy, thank you for going through the time and trouble of this
experiment. I am a hydro-newbie, and really enjoy watching the progress of
this series of videos, they really are helpful. I decided a few weeks ago
that I wanted to get into hydroponic strawberries, and lo-and-behold, when
I searched hydroponic strawberries, your video popped up, the one where you
have the dark green PVC pipe. Well, I was hooked, I started watching all of
your videos and then I found Brock Hughes’ channel, as well as
MediaMaker2000 and MHP Gardener and so on, then I found out that there are
something like a half dozen hydroponic stores here in Dallas, I went to go
do some shopping and I was like a kid in a candy store. I am now in process
of building my hydro system for the spring planting, and I guess I need to
get a video camera and set up a channel. I said all of this, to show how
much you have inspired me to get into hydroponics. Thank you again, Mike

  3. Ah bummer! So the kratky method didn’t work for the tomatoes.
Think you may try it again but with different solutions?

  4. The reasons why your roots are brown is because they are not getting enough
oxygen. The plant that did not have the air stone did better when the water
level dropped. because the root system was exposed to the air. The other
plant that did have the air was doing better, Still not enough air, that’s
the reason for the browning. Also you said the roots were growing to one
side of the pot. I bet the air flow was coming up that side more. if you
have enough air in your container the root ball should fill out the whole
pot. more root more fruit. Give her a try, and you might be able to hit
    that one pound mark.

  7. Thanks Rick. No we don’t. I love that stuff. When I was in the Marines
stationed in NC we had it there. I haven’t seen any on the west coast.

it helps to know how to grow kratky style you never know in case of

  24. Nice video Larry, I really have enjoyed this series and have learned quite
allot! I while back, you mentioned maybe we could share seeds? I’ve got
some tomatoes you may like… German Pink, German Johnson, Beafsteak, Black
Krim, and Mexican Midget. PM me if you want to do a little trade and try
    some new ones. 🙂 Wayne
