This sized coup is suitable for 4 normal sized birds – the birds are actually in that box on top of the coup.

Question by Tiddles: Is there an alternative to layer pellets containing “restricted animal material” for feeding chickens?
I recently purchased layer pellets for my bantams that are labelled as containing “restricted animal material”. I’d prefer not to feed these sorts of pellets if possible, but I want to make sure my hens have a balanced diet. Any suggestions of alternative products/feeds/etc that are available in Australia would be greatly appreciated. 🙂
I already feed food scraps as well, I just want to check if there are “vegetarian” pellets available…

Anyone? :/

  1. When I was young, my family had a farm. We fed our chickens leftovers of fruit and veggies, breadcrumbs, and some sort of seed we got from the store.

  2. Raising chickens with feed pellets is a good choice. It’s convenient. You can also make the feed pellets with feed pellet mill by yourself.
