Question by : Is powdered goat milk (from Wegman’s) good for pregnant women?
My mom is pregnant and has asthma, gas apparrently, and has a hard time eating. She wants to know if, since she is carrying a child, is it good for the baby if she drinks goat milk that she bought from Wegman. It came in a small package called “Meyenberg Powedered Goat Milk Vitamin D”
You just add water and mix it to get it back into its liquid form.
Is this good for her and the baby?
What do you think? Answer below!
Milk is a healthy food. It contains many useful nutrients and can be a part of any mixed diet.
If she enjoys goats milk, (powdered and reconsituted, canned, or fresh and pasturized) she can drink it.
It will not, however, cure her asthma or do anything special for the health of her baby.

Goat milk has more Vitamin A than cow’s milk, and pregnant women should not get too much Vitamin A, so check the label and be careful about how much she drinks.
If the gas is from lactose intolerance, goat’s milk won’t help because it also contains lactose, just like cow’s milk. It’s exactly the same. Cow lactose and goat lactose are not different chemically.
Will it have have properties that will make her healthier or cure her asthma? No. The exoticness of goat milk allows some marketers to push it as a cure-all, but it has no magical powers.
Cow’s milk also had some wonderful advertising to convince you that it is magical. Basically, is contains some protein (which you probably get plenty of) and Calcium. Vitamin A and D are often added to cow’s milk, but they are added less often to goat’s milk, so check the label. You need Vitamin D to absorb the Calcium.
