Is it OK to put garden worms in my herb bed with a coconut husk lining?

At this point, I feel that it’s almost obligatory for me to include at least one photograph of worm compost in every Flickr set. Here, co-op manager Gregorio Alva shows me the plant nursery and worm compost beds that the co-op constructed recently.

Question by Kelli: Is it OK to put garden worms in my herb bed with a coconut husk lining?
These are the common garden worms like the red wigglers and such. In my compost pile I put coconut shells and the worms eat it. Will they eat the lining of the herb bed if I add them to it?

Thanks

  1. Some of those coir liners are coated with a rubber type of chemical to make the coir last longer. That would not be the best thing to have in with the worms.
