Question by Nicks: Is it bad for my dog to drink goats milk?
My mastiff just gave birth to 11 healthy puppies, except she doesn’t have enought teats to feed them so we’ve been giving them goat’s milk. Is it bad for her to drink goat’s milk as well?
What do you think? Answer below!
Not just goat milk…Dogs CAN have milk, but not huge amounts of it, because it’s bad for them. In my dogs for dummies book, it actually suggests giving puppies milk, just not too much. Hope I helped!!

Goats milk is good for them. The best thing to do for the pups is to rotate which pups get mama’s milk and which get the bottle. You may need to tie different color ribbons on each pup so you can tell them apart. The pups need that first milk from mama to get the antibodies they need to be healthy. Congrats on the new family and wow 11 babies! What a wonderful Christmas. You are gonna be busy. I wouldn’t give the goat’s milk to the mama. Watch their stool to see if it is diarrhea. You may have to weaken down the goat’s milk because it is very rich.

Goats milk is safe cows mils is not.. Three years ago I cared for 13 puppy’s there mom died when they were about 3 weeks old, I made batches of can puppy food with goats milk. I got some supplement puppy formula and some vitamins and made a mixture and the puppy’s grew got older 3 of the 13 I still see.. They also went to the vet every week to see how they were growing vet checks.. De wormed one of the vet techs took a puppy my neighbor took one and so did one of my clients..

Goat’s milk is an excellent replacement for dog milk. I would cut it with a little water and maybe add a little plain yogurt. When I bred purebred cats we found it to be superior to KMR and it will work for puppies as well. It won’t hurt the mom dog to have a little calcium as well but not too much or it may give her a loose stool.

Goat’s milk is a good source of protein and calcium for the dog and it is much easier for a dog to digest than cow’s milk. You really should feed the puppies a nutritionally complete puppy milk replacer, like Esbilac or Just Born,so that they get all of the correct nutrients they need, but a bowl of goats milk is fine for the mom dog every day as long as it does not give her diarrhea.

it is better to get a dog milk replacement at the pet store or farm supply store. goats milk is made for baby goats and their nutritional needs- not baby dogs (or adult dogs for that matter).
