Is it possible for a modern man to depend entirely on farming for his survival? Or is there still a scope for agriculture in future?

I think it is possible. It will be a lot of work tho. You needs certain elements and compounds to survive. It also depends where you create your farm. You will need protein which can come from animals and beans, you also need calcium which can be obtained from milk for muscle contractions and hard bones. You also need all the vitamins and minerals to keep your systems such as the endocrine system functioning. It would be very difficult for a single person to run a whole farm to achieve all of these necessities for survival as well as being able to transport water to everything, but it is still possible for a modern family to survive solely on a farm. How do you expect us to survive during the zombie apocalypse.

You can live completely on farming. Just look at most of the chinese countryside.

I think every one is forgetting about one very important thing. LAND. unless he is illegally squatting in a national forest or wilderness. this isnt moses time people you have to actually own the land you farm on (or lease but thats a different discussion). Once you own the land steal 4 pigs 10 chickens 3 cows, 2 goats, a dog, and some seeds and go from there. He can even support a family of 5 on his hard work.
