Question by Dan: Is Claye-Souilly a safe place to live in France?
Can anyone tell me about about Claye-Souilly? Is it a happy place? Safe? Quiet? Any other details or things I should know about?

One Response to Is Claye-Souilly a safe place to live in France?
Claye-Souilly a pleasant residential agglomeration 27 kms East of Paris in the Seine et Marne area with a canal running through it and a number of lakes near by. It is safe, and has a modern and up to date shopping mall and excellent library facilities. Out of shopping and working hours it is very quiet.
It town hall is a former castle and the 17th century church is a lovely historic monument. http://clayesouilly.com/ http://www.cc-clayesouilly.com/192-14827-cc-clayessouilly.com.php
It is on the edge of the countryside close to a forested area and offers all sorts of outdoor activities for the week-end: walking ,fishing, cycling, horse riding, hunting, etc…. There is a street market twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays, a large flea market held once a year in the summer.
It has an industrial zone near the canal port but this is not intrusive.
The local industries consist mainly of forestry, tree felling, bee keeping, and the breeding and raising quails.
The church is remarkably active and involved in community pursuits.
