Aquaponics is a developing agricultural technology that is rapidly gaining worldwide popularity, both for commercial production and small-scale, backyard systems. To learn more about home aquaponics, the Malamalama magazine team visited University of Hawai’i Aquaponics Specialist Clyde Tamaru at his outdoor facility on the grounds of Windward Community College. The instructions for the bell siphon are available online linked from your web site. I am not able to find our web site. I really would like to see that. I did find the college… Thank you for sharing this video, it is very informative. xoxo

@Fender337 Just give yourself time. your first system will take a while to estabish itself and start feeding the plants. You will see amazing growth the first few days, but then it’ll taper off. Don’t get disappointed. It’s an complete ecological system, it takes time for it get going.
You can’t just add water and expect it to… never mind

i had the chance to meet clyde, and visit this facility, about 3 month ago. i learned about this project and him, from the uh dean. after a phone call, clyde was so kind to spend about an hour with me, answer my question, and gave me a tour of all thew different systems and set ups. if anybody is visiting oahu, give him a ring.
thanks clyde

Awesome video and amazing idea. I wonder if you can up scale the system so you can have a bigger tank and grow the tilapia to an eating size? Now you have the protein and the vegetables for some great meals.
